Teaching kids how to argue in science...

Did I just say that? Do I really want to encourage arguing??  Actually, I do!  In science, we need to teach students how to disagree in a respectful manner by giving them the correct language to use.

So when would you do that? I try to encourage this at least once a month to debate a topic that is a known misconception.  For example, I overheard several children in my class say "The moon causes day and night" or "The phases of the moon are caused by the Earth's shadow."

I have created a handout to post in the room or in a science binder with reminder questions and answer phrases.  To grab your own FREE copy, hop on over to my blog Science Gal!
