Introducing a new blog from me, the creator of Sub Hub. I just started Picture Book Lessons to feed my classroom passion of teaching with picture books. And for my first lesson idea, I ventured into the world of back-to-school read alouds and craftivities.

After reading the book A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle and drawing parallels between outgrowing the shell and outgrowing last year's classroom, have students create and decorate an all-about-me desk name tag in a similar manner to hermit crab decorating his new, bigger shell to make it feel like home.
