When my students walk in this year on that very anxious "first day of school" day, like you, I want to relieve their worries and begin the year with "warm fuzzies".
One way I try to tackle that goal is for them to see a gift on their desk right away. I include several things in a little white lunch sack, tied with colorful ribbon and a note.
One of the items inside will be a new laminated bookmark they can begin using that day as they read from the shared book bin on their table. I've included those bookmarks here to share with you. I hope you can use them too.
