Happy Mom's Day!

This is a quick & easy Mother's Day prompt :)
I use word banks with my students who have writing goals. Many of my 1st-graders (Special Education inclusion) working on writing often have objectives such as independently generating ideas on a topic (it's a challenge for them!) and writing 3-4 phonetically-correct sentences featuring high frequency words. Of course, we start with models and smaller increments with supports such as word banks and cueing. These lofty goals are one-year-plus from the IEP meeting date, so they extend past one school year into the next. Models and supports will be gradually diminished as students demonstrate mastery and build independence. Even though I find word banks SO useful, I still wonder if it's the right support. How do you feel about using word banks in your classroom? I'd love to hear!!
