Have a Great Class Election

Running a smooth class election takes time.  It takes time from the regular social studies curriculum.  Once I realized this, I created a lesson that incorporated Social Studies and studying the government into my classroom's Student Council election.  By taking the time to teach students the importance of a representative, students realize the importance of the job.  In addition, talking about what our class expects of our representatives before they are elected helps the representatives do a better job once elected.  This free Student Council Elections lesson is an abbreviated version of my full lesson.  I hope that it helps make your student class election run smoothly.  Enjoy!
