Pre-Writing Skills: Visual Discrimination

Children need to be able to distinguish between very similar letters in order to be successful readers and writers. Just think about how the words dog and bog are nearly exactly the same, yet their meanings are so different!

When kids learn to look closely at objects and observe the minute differences it helps get them ready for reading and writing.

Pop over to Liz's Early Learning Spot to download these free visual discrimination cards. Just print them out and your kids can clip the odd one out, or just pop a counter on top!

I wish you happy teaching and learning!
