Decoding Strategies: Posters for Reading Workshop

If you're a primary teacher, like me, you probably know these strategies and likely use them in your classroom.  I love them because the kids make connections to the characters which helps them recall the specific strategies when reading.  My own children at home collected Webkinz® for years and, believe it or not, they actually had a stuffed animal for each of these characters.  I took the stuffed animals into class and ... Wow! ... that really helped bring the strategies "to life" even more.  I highly recommend trying to find the stuffed animals to accompany the FREE Posters.  Yard sales, thrift shops, and your own toy boxes are good places to start!  :)

This set includes:
• Eagle Eye
• Lips the Fish
• Chunky Monkey
• Skippy Frog
• Stretchy Snake
• Flippy Dolphin
• Tryin' Lion

TIPS:
• Use the individual cards during your reading workshop lessons, but also hang a set near your guided reading area so you can refer to them quickly during teachable moments.
• Send a set home to your students' families.  This will help them learn more strategies other than the ever popular "sound it out."

Happy Reading!
