Learning Story Elements in a FUN Way! (MsJordanReads)

Are you looking for a fun new way to teach story elements?

Students will love this mnemonic for remembering the different features of fiction text! S.T.O.R.Y. is part of a visualizing strategy called "Picture It!," developed by Victoria Naughton (2008). Each letter of S.T.O.R.Y. represents a different story element.  Not only do I love this mnemonic for students learning the ingredients of a good story, but it's great for story retelling and story summarizing. To help my students remember the mnemonic, I created a strategy poem!

Check out my newest blog post, "S.T.O.R.Y. Extensions!" for ways to use S.T.O.R.Y. in your classroom! If you're interested in reading Victoria Naughton's article, a few websites are listed on the blog post, as well.
